Birds and Children

A bird
broken-winged
Ugly Duckling
as am I
yet even broken birds
(or children)
may fly again.
Fragile hollow bones
(of the soul)
snapped as driftwood.
Clean air
dives over me
the salted ocean
(of tears)
washes lies clean
Let me learn
the wind-dance
and the Songs
of the Day.
I float
on the belly
of the air
soaring.
